Starting September, 2023, the GRE exam has been reduced to one hour and 58 minutes.
The New GRE test consists of the following:

I. Issue Writing Task (30 minutes)

I. Section One: average difficulty (12 questions, 18 minutes)
II. Section Two: difficulty level adapted to test taker’s performance on Section One** (15 questions, 23 minutes)

Both the Argument Essay and the un-scored Experimental sections have been removed. The 10 minute break has also been eliminated.

**GRE is computer adaptive (Section Level Adaptation) for Verbal Reasoning and Quantitive Reasoning. The difficulty level of the second section is dependent on the overall performance on the first section.
